The total number of households affected by the Benefits cap across Northamptonshire has decreased for the fourth quarter running and stands at 484 (August 18). The estimated number of children in these households now stands at 1697.   Just under half of these live in Northampton.

80.6% of the capped households in the county are single parents with child dependents.   This proportion is the highest quarterly figure recorded in our timeseries which goes back to November 2013 and is higher than the England average of 73.0%.   Across the boroughs and districts the proportion of capped households which are single parent households ranges from 100% in South Northamptonshire (small numbers) followed by 84.6% in Corby, down to 72.1% in Kettering.
