Benefits Cap Update

06 August 2018

At the end of May 2018, there were 532 households in Northamptonshire subject to the Benefits Cap. This is the lowest quarterly figure since the criteria changed in November 2016 and the changes were picked up in the figures for February 2017.   Amongst the county's boroughs and districts the figures are more variable.

Similarly, the estimated number of children living in households affected by the Benefits Cap continues to decrease and in May 2018 stood at 1827 across the county.   48% of these children live in Northampton.

Across the county, 79.3% of the capped households are single parent households, higher than the England average of 72.2%.
