National Comparisons of Pupil Characteristics

The national and regional comparisons of pupil characteristics proportions have been added to the three main Pupil Characteristics dataviews within the Pupil/Students Characteristics sub-theme (nb. there are no national comparisons for the Reception 123 dataview). Please remember that the national and regional methodology is slightly different from that used for smaller areas up to and including county - please see dataview metadata for more information.

At a Primary level :
Wellingborough (14.49%) has a higher than England average (13.79%) proportion of SEN pupils.
All district and boroughs within the county record below England average levels of pupils eligible for Free School Meals.
Northampton (28.22%) and Corby (22.85%) have above England average (21.18%) levels of pupils with a first language which is not English.
Northampton (43.47%) and Wellingborough (33.35%) have above England average (33.06%) of pupils who are not White British.

At Secondary level :
Five of the seven districts and boroughs in the county have above average levels of SEN pupils resulting in Northamptonshire registering a 12.67% proportion compared to the England average of 12.27%.
All boroughs and districts have below England average proportions of Free School Meals pupils.
Northampton (23.21%) has a higher than England average (16.57%) of secondary school pupils with a language other than English as their first language.
Northampton (37.11%) has a higher than England average (30.25%) of pupils who are not White British.
